Lekcija 26 · Akuzativ vs lokativ — pregled

Same preposition · Two cases

Gde? vs Kuda? · Location vs Motion

Some prepositions do two jobs. With u, na, and po, Serbian often keeps the same little word — and changes the case to show whether you are going somewhere or already there.

Neki predlozi rade dva posla. Uz u, na i po, srpski često zadrži isti predlog — a padež pokazuje da li ideš negde ili već jesi tamo.

Kuda? — Where are you going / moving toward? → usually accusative.
Gde? — Where are you / where is it sitting? → usually locative.

Kuda? — Kud ideš? → obično akuzativ.
Gde? — Gde si? → obično lokativ.

The switch: Motion / direction / placement → accusative. Static location / being there / spread across → locative. The preposition is the anchor; the case is the switch.

Prekidač: Kretanje / smer / stavljanje → akuzativ. Statična lokacija / biti tamo / rasprostranjenost → lokativ. Predlog je sidro; padež je prekidač.
